Young Ealing

A new website called Young Ealing has been launched, which we are listed on:
http://www.youngealing.co.uk/group-martial-arts.html

The info could be more up-to-date, but I gave it to them more than a year ago and they only just got the site live!

Whats your opinion on action shots to promote schola?

IMO done correctly they can be a great way of appealing to people wanting to get involved.

If they are cheesy then they just make the club look a bit shite. e.g.

The Alan winner academy. looks like a bad version of streetfighter.

Yeah, good action shots are like gold dust - they tend to happen rather than be planned. Do you think we should change our front page photo then?

Maybe. But only for the following reason.

when I think of boxing I would half expect to see a boxer hitting someone else or a bag.

when I think of kung fu I would expect to see a two guys standing together doing sticky hands stuff

when I think of sport fencing i would expect to see someone lunging halfway across the floor with their foil bending slightly as it hits someone else.

When I think of HEMA, my first though it what the f*ck is HEMA(from the point of view of someone who knows nothing about it but wants to get into some sort of martial arts).

I think it could benefit the understanding of what we do more if there were four photos each depicting a stage in the fight. A little bit like a motionless zoetrope.

You could have two or three rows of photos one for dagger one for longsword and one for spear.

Like a film story board.

A pool of decent imagery I think is a bit of a must.

Thus, I took the liberty to start a thread in the pub for folk to describe what sort of thing would look good to them.

Cheese or Uncheese.

A lot of knowledge can also be a dangerous thing - in the right hands.

Cheese to me would be a photo depicting a flying kick connecting with someones head, a series of events leading to that particular photo would un-cheese it for me as it explains to some degree why and how the kick is being delivered.
