Messers, Stortas, Falchions, and other such things

Does anyone know of a good taxonomy for the different species of single-hand, single-edged swords used in the 1300s - 1600s, such as the langen Messer, Storta, Dussack, and Falchion? I've generally used the catch-all term "long knife" to describe them (since it's the translation of both langen Messer and cutlass), and I've seen others try to group them together under Falchion, but I'm aware that there's a lot more nuance and variation than that. Anyone have any leads on this?
