Introduction to the Smallsword

Hello,

I made an Imgur gallery largely aimed at people who've no idea what a smallsword is, because several other Imgur members prompted me to make one. I have made it mostly about neat pictures, but there's real information there. Accuracy may be debatable; unlike many other WMA community members, I'm not expertly read and I have a brain much like a sieve. In any case, it's pretty easy to link around. Note I couldn't call out books and equipment and whatnot because of Imgur community policy. Primary goal was to see if I could at least get a few random souls to Googling.

Nice overview and cool to see this on Imgur! Upvoted.
Thanks for doing this. Hopefully will attract more attention to smallsword :-)

Those are gorgeous! I hope one day to get into 18th century stuff, but my reach exceeds my grasp most of the time even with the limited amount of swordplay I've taken up.

I know the feeling :)

Right now I'm trying my best to refresh myself on smallsword material and pull together a concise, easy-to-follow lesson plan to start helping people train the weapon.

As I mentioned in the gallery, it's a great place to start in HEMA due to the way reduced amount of money you'll need to spend to go "all the way" safely. ~$200 can get you gloves, a mask, a jacket, and a weapon, ready to go for full contact sparring.
