Why wouldn't the museum want them to print more than 1000 copies?

Maybe the book is so heavy with information that if more than 1000 copies were put together they would attain critical mass, resulting in a chain reaction that would spread across the world, giving people either pink or blue outfits, resulting in a mass polarisation of the world's populace and leading to an all out war between pink and blue. Obviously neither pink nor blue will win, but instead the the mutant Hawk/Lion/hind (5% of the earth's population) people in g-strings will use the resulting chaos to establish an order of tyranny and injustice, maintaining order through their expert fencing skills.

If their order is established through their expert fencing skills at least Tobler won't rule... did I really say that? No can't be. Honestly I never fought against him. I have no right to talk like this about this obviously very engaged, I mean aehm, hard working fencer, eh man who has brought us such marvelous books.

Now, that wasn't fair and not even nice. I do apologize ... - I think.

I am really curious what this book will be. Who is going to buy it? Honestly?

Maybe Chiv Bshelf could only afford a 1000 repros deal with the library - I can tell you these things do cost money actually, having enquired a bit on the subject.

Apparently it's because the library didn't want them to publish more. Maybe they are paying a fee based on how many books they publish.I have already ordered it.

One of the things that annoyed me with Secrets was that the transcription wasn't there. In this one it is.

1000 copies is actually not an unsual run. Only books that will appeal to a larger audience are printed in larger runs. I guess they told it so that people order right away instead of risking not to get one. Marketing idea - but if it is a good one?

1000 copies sounds limited for an american book. If it was in Swedish or another small language I would say it's quite normal.

Granted - for an english book it may be small. Forgot the language issue here.
Thanks for putting me right.

You know, the first Dijon publication (available next week from me if all goes well) is only printed at 600 copies - though this is a first batch, and we can order more any time if the demand is high enough.

I asked Christian & he said that it was a stipulation by the Bavarian State Library. They want it to be a limited edition.

So there you have it.

They wanted it to be a limited edition but did they also limit it to 1000 copies?

So that those who miss out have to pay the library for a copy instead of being able to order the book?

Then why allow the publication in the first place? It just strikes me a nonsensical decision.

The only way it makes sense is if they want to puplish something themselves and dont want to spoil the market. At least that is the only idea I have although it doesn't make that much sense either.
