Paulus Kal Translation on Wiktenauer

Postby Michael Chidester » 24 Feb 2011 10:16

I've updated the Paulus Kal page with a few additional images, and also with my new translation of the Munich version. It's a rough translation which I doubt I'll ever try to polish further, and certainly not comparable to Christian Tobler's translation, but I've always felt that Kal's book was more about the art than the text anyway, so it should suffice for the casual browser. I'm heavily indebted to both Christian and to Dierk Hagedorn, both of whose translations I referenced frequently during the work. Enjoy.

Michael,

Thanks for the work on Kal- never seen Tobler's translation (and probably never will with the Chivalry Bookshelf mess), but do have the plates in colour, owing to a library slip-up a few years back. Question- if I was to suggest changes to the translation in places that bring it inline with a translation I haven't seen, how does the Wiktenauer copy with that?

I don't have a problem with it.

Give me a few weeks, and I'll be on sabbatical (Yay!). Should have time to go through and suggest the changes that leapt out at me...
